Each structure unit represents a department in the organisation and its position within the organisation.  From this screen you can add, edit and delete Structure units / Departments, you will be able to specify the parent department and you will also be able to view the department on the organisational chart in relation to other departments. Note: Structure units and Department may be used interchangeably

Creating Structure Units

To create a Structure unit, navigate to Admin > Organisation > Structure, Click on “Add” and fill in the necessary fields using the information below

  • Structure Name: This is the unique name for the department
  • Description: A brief description of the department
  • Parent: This is the parent department for the current department i.e. Finance department may be the parent department for an accounting department.
  • Status: This determines if the department is active and available as an option on relevant screens
  • Save Button: Click this button to save changes.
  • Cancel Button: Click this button to cancel changes.

Note: In order to create a coherent organisational structure, all departments must have a parent department with the exception of the highest level department in the organisation i.e. Corporate.

Editing Departments

To edit a Structure, navigate to Admin > Organisation > Structure. Click on a department and change the information as required (See Creating Structure units). When done, click the “Save” button to save changes or the “Cancel” button to discard changes.

Deleting Departments

To delete a department, navigate to Admin > Organisation > Structure. Select the checkbox beside the department(s) you want to delete and the click the “Delete” button.

Viewing a department on the Organisational chart

To view a department on the organisational chart, navigate to Admin > Organisation > Structure. Locate the department you want to view and click on the “View in Org Structure” link (see the Org Chart section for more details).

Unit View

This screen allows you to see the units (sub departments) in the organisation and view them in the organisational structure.
